Turkish state-linked media and analysts are sounding the alarm over Greece's deepening defense ties with Israel, with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warning that Greece risks becoming a "pawn" in the hands of those seeking to destabilize the region. The comments came during coverage on Habertürk and TGRT Haber, where anchors and analysts connected Fidan's remarks directly to recent Greek-Israeli defense agreements. University professor Sezin Oney argued on Habertürk that Israel's growing presence in Greece is narrowing the geographic buffer between Turkey and Israel. She said that from a Turkish security perspective, neither the General Staff nor the Foreign Ministry could look at the situation and say there was no problem. She described the Israel-Greece relationship as Israel effectively opening a "protective umbrella" through Greek territory.
