Lupita Nyong'o has a pointed question ready for Homer, and it has added more heat to the already contentious debate surrounding Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey."
Nyong'o, who plays Helen of Troy in the film, appeared on Jake Hamilton's show "Jake's Takes" and was asked what she would say to Homer if they sat together watching the movie. Her answer was sharp: "So, Homer, how do you feel about the amount of time given to these women on screen, considering how little time you gave them?" She added she would lean in with a knowing look and say, "Remember us?"
The comment landed in the middle of an ongoing firestorm over her casting, which has drawn heavy criticism online, including a wave of negative reactions on YouTube. Her response essentially flipped the question back on Homer himself, framing the controversy as one about representation rather than historical accuracy.
Nyong'o had addressed the film's approach in a separate interview as well, explaining that Nolan's version deliberately shifts perspective toward the women of the story. She described how Helen and Clytemnestra are shown reacting to the war in different ways based on their different experiences, and said giving them a "human dimension" was central to her work on the role. The film has its London premiere within days.
The casting controversy is one of several flashpoints surrounding the production, which has drawn both enormous anticipation and significant backlash before a single public screening has taken place.
