Greek Solution party leader Kyriakos Velopoulos is pointing directly at Europe's recent riots in France and Italy, asking a question that's drawing significant attention: why are churches the targets?
In a public statement, Velopoulos said the immediate trigger for the violence is profiteering and rising prices, but he placed the deeper blame on what he called "the invaders of Europe," the billions in government spending directed at supporting them, and what he described as "the ridiculous war against Russia" pushing fuel costs higher across the continent.
His sharpest words came in a direct challenge to European leadership. Velopoulos noted that jihad slogans were heard during the incidents and argued that the selective targeting of Christian churches reveals something deliberate, saying those responsible "hate Europe and Christianity."
The Greek Solution leader has long positioned himself as one of the most vocal critics of EU migration policy, and these comments come as unrest continues in parts of Western Europe linked to economic frustration and cultural tension. Velopoulos did not call for a specific policy response in this statement but framed the violence as confirmation of warnings he says Greek conservatives have been raising for years.
The remarks are already circulating widely in Greek political circles, with supporters calling the statement overdue and critics accusing him of exploiting unrest for political gain.
