Seven Greek Americans are on the ballot in Tuesday's U.S. midterm elections, but the race drawing the most attention from the global Greek community is in New Hampshire, where Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas is trying to become the first Greek-American U.S. Senator since Olympia Snowe left office in January 2013. Pappas, first elected to the House in 2018 and widely regarded as one of Congress's most consistent advocates for Greek and Cypriot interests, faces former Republican Sen. John Sununu in what is shaping up as one of the tightest Senate contests in the country. In a notable twist, former MAGA candidate Don Bolduc has publicly announced he is backing Pappas. The seat is open after Sen. Jeanne Shaheen's departure, and control of the Senate could hinge on it. In Florida, Gus Bilirakis, whose family roots trace to Kalymnos, is fighting his hardest race in years after redistricting. He previously won his old district with 71% of the vote, but now faces Democrat Kimberly Overman and independent Braden Scrivener in a redrawn district that offers far less of a cushion. Also in Florida, Jimmy Patronis, whose family comes from Patmos and who won a special election in April 2025 with Trump's backing to replace Matt Gaetz, is seeking his first full term. Mike Haridopolos, first elected in 2024 to Florida's 8th District, is running for re-election as well. Elsewhere, Nevada Democrat Dina Titus, in the House continuously since 2009, is on the ballot again, as is New York Republican Nicole Malliotakis, whose roots are in Sitia, Crete. In New Hampshire's 2nd District, Maggie Goodlander, 39, the youngest Greek American in Congress and wife of former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, whose family traces back to Avdella in Grevena, is seeking her second term. All 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats are up for election Tuesday. Many analysts currently give Democrats a realistic shot at flipping at least one chamber, with prices, immigration and the ongoing war in Iran dominating voter concerns nationwide. #GreekAmerica #USelections2026 #ChrisPappas
