A three-day Greek festival is running this weekend in Stuttgart, Germany, drawing crowds to the Schwabenplatz in the city's Vaihingen district with traditional dance, live music, and Greek food. The Greek Summer Festival, organized by the Greek School of Vaihingen in partnership with the SchwabenGalerie shopping center, kicked off Friday night, July 10, and continues Saturday and Sunday with doors opening at 11 a.m. both days. Entry is free. The event has grown considerably since its first edition in 2017, which attracted around 1,000 visitors. It has since become an annual fixture in the Stuttgart calendar, drawing attendees of multiple nationalities to what organizers describe as a genuine summer celebration. The program across the weekend includes performances by traditional Greek dance groups from across Germany, with dancers in regional costumes performing the ballos, syrtos, and kalamatianos. The groups rotate throughout the day, keeping the stage active from opening until evening. The food lineup leans hard into Greek staples. Grilled souvlaki, fresh spanakopita, traditional sweets, and frappe are all on offer at the Schwabenplatz. Friday night's opening drew the first large crowd, with live music under open skies setting the tone for the rest of the weekend. The Greek School of Vaihingen runs the event as its main annual fundraiser and community showcase. Stuttgart has one of Germany's larger Greek communities, and the festival draws families, second-generation Greeks, and curious locals in roughly equal measure. #Greeks #GermanGreeks #GreekFestival
