Mount Olympus has been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List after a unanimous vote at the organization's session in South Korea. The decision confirms the mountain's status as one of the most significant cultural and natural monuments in the world. Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas called it a "great international success" and extended congratulations to everyone who contributed to making it happen. He noted that UNESCO confirmed Olympus belongs among the world's most important sites of both civilization and nature. Tasoulas also referenced the mountain's ancient literary legacy, calling it the "radiant" Olympus of Homer's Odyssey, a description used in ancient Greek texts. The Greek state's ongoing management and promotion of the national park were credited as key factors in securing the listing.
