Nicole Malliotakis held her Staten Island seat Tuesday, defeating Democrat Mike DeCillis to win a fourth consecutive term in New York's 11th Congressional District. Unofficial returns showed her collecting 101,719 votes across the Republican and Conservative ballot lines against DeCillis's 79,370, with all 377 election districts reporting.
Malliotakis, 45, first won the seat in 2020 by unseating Democrat Max Rose. She is the daughter of a Greek immigrant father and a Cuban mother who fled the Castro regime, a background she has frequently cited in explaining her political positions on immigration and economic policy.
The race had a legal backdrop. The U.S. Supreme Court paused a state court order in March that would have required the district to be redrawn, preserving the existing map covering all of Staten Island and part of southern Brooklyn.
On Greece-related issues, Malliotakis has been one of the more active voices in Congress. She serves as vice chair of the Congressional Hellenic Caucus and co-sponsored the resolution marking the 205th anniversary of Greek Independence earlier this year. She also helped introduce legislation extending U.S. military education and training assistance to Greece for five years, a bill the House Foreign Affairs Committee advanced in May.
In July, she publicly opposed a proposed sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, citing concerns over Greece, Cyprus and broader regional security. She sits on the House Ways and Means Committee and the Joint Economic Committee.
DeCillis, a former police officer and teacher, ran on household affordability, public education and congressional oversight. The results remain unofficial and subject to certification.
