Two police officers and two civilians were injured Wednesday after a bomb hidden inside a white bag exploded at the entrance of an apartment building on Platonos Street in the Kolonos neighborhood of Athens. The attack was a deliberate trap. An anonymous caller contacted police to report that a bag of narcotics had been left at the building's entrance. When officers arrived, the building manager pointed them to a white plastic bag on the ground. As one officer opened it, the device detonated. The bag contained an explosive mechanism wired to a detonator. The blast shattered windows and damaged the building's facade, sending shrapnel tearing through the entrance. The officer who opened the bag suffered wounds to the head from the shrapnel and was rushed to the 401 Military Hospital. The other three victims, including the second officer and the building manager, were transported to Evangelismos Hospital with lighter injuries. Medical staff confirmed none of the four face life-threatening conditions. The Counter-Terrorism Unit and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Laboratory immediately sealed off Platonos Street. Forensic experts are now combing the area for chemical residues and electronic components to identify the bomb maker's signature. Authorities are also reviewing local security camera footage to trace the individual who planted the device. Police are treating the incident as a targeted trap, given the false tip that lured officers to the scene. #Athens #Greece #BreakingNews
